He say! she say! we all say ! Can anyone of these top 5 mayors get the housing crisis fix.
The debate at the Daily Bread Food Bank proves to us that we need a mayor that can relate to the Torontonians needs with out upsetting there mental state of mind.
Jody Williams the new mayor, can she fix it?
Yes she can!
Well here is the answer to the problem.
When I was a little girl living in the Beautiful islands of Jamaica, we drank Blue Mountain coffee every morning.
Nanny of the maroons dedicated herself to fight for the future generation, making sure that we the children didn't have to worry about owning our lands.
The culture that I love the most, was living with my extended family, I could remember seeing my grandma, granddad, mother, father and cousin sitting around our eight seated dining table with a golden diamond chandeliers hanging over our heads. Dinner always start a 7 o'clock And if you were late, you would have to had a very good excuse. Looking back today, I must confess that sometimes I was a little nervous because, my grandma would be the first person to start the conversation by asking me about my experience and what did i learn at school that day.
As poor as we might have seems to the Western world there was always a extraroom for visitors who were traveling from abroad, For example family members and programs like peace scores students that were willing to learn about our wonderful tropical lifestyle.
We all had our own individual task to participate in the household everyday, for example Cooking cleaning, washing, decorating and Building etc.. and if a family member couldn't figure out a problem, there was alway someone willing and available to teach voluntarily,
One of my valuable lessons that I have learned was how to fix things that i currently had and how to make it fashionable and appealing to the eyes.
(1).Torontonian are now faced with a very big homeless crisis,
People are getting invicted even in winter, which is against the law.
(2).Parents are very scared that they will lose their Children to Children Services because they don't have a home to provide a warm place for there love ones.
(3). Professional actors and producers are now living in trailers because they don't have a place to call home anymore.
(4). Landlords can't afford the mortgage so they have to sell their family home at a loss.
My people let's think and ask the question once again, is this a real crisis are someone is creating this problem!
In 2021 there was a survey that required all landlords to report, if there homes are vacant or not?
We Torontonian people have not received the answer to this survey, which I personally think we deserve an answer as soon as possible.
The Torontonian people are very much aware that there is 1 million empty homes that are owned by Private investors.
Private investors are taking advantage of the 1% Property tax, They are entitle to only pay 1% tax yearly based on the fact that if there property is vacant, which is ideally cheaper for the owner.
Some Investors prefer not to rent to renters just to avoid paying more taxes.
Can we really blame the investors?
Torontonian before pointing fingers let's take a look at this problem from every angle,
because really and truly nobody wants to pay taxes.
Taxes was originated from the black plague, the great pandemic, when the bishops were frustrated and they needed help from the rich Republican, so they ask for help of a 2% donations taxes to control the problem, In order to help sick the people who was Suffering from the plague. Let's fast forward To 2023 all people rich and poor are now Currently paying 13% tax on food, clothing, Hydro, now majority on everything.
Let's break down how some investors make profits by not renting to tenants,
example if an investor property is worth one million dollars they would only pay $10000 in property tax yearly,
The benefit of being a investor you are entitle to remortgage your home after 5 years to take out equity.
Ideally it's in the investors best interest to wait for 5 years to make a Gigantic profits when the property value goes up.
Secondly since the Covid 19 pandemic a lot of Employees are now working from the comfort of their luxurious beautiful Custom design private home offices.
But on the other hand there are a lot of commercial buildings that are currently not in use our occupied by employer because Life has changed and evolved for the betterment of the employees who are working on a computer device as a office representative or a receptionist.
However Employers are receiving grants and loanes to maintain the electricity to keep there empty building warm day-and-night, In the meanwhile residents are homeless, hungry and freezing in the cold winter days.
Torontonian people let's raise our voices as one, to solve these problem today. We kindly ask permission to the federal government of Canada honorable President Justine Trudeau, please help us to rezone all commercial buildings into residential, by allowing us the program rent to own housing at a affordable price gear to your income, so we can finally put a stop to this generational curse of waiting list of homelessness for both citizens and residents that lives in Toronto Canada.
Now the problem is solved, we can now focus on Greater ideas on how we can make businesses building architecture structures , looks attractive and appealing for tourist attraction.
Wonderland is one of the perfect example of Canada attractive sightscenes, which is every little girl and boy dream, not to mention the beautiful CN Tower.
Let's make Canada fun again, the great Northern Star, where only Mrs and Mr Santa Clause lives with there elves.
Sincerely,
Jody Williams
your future Mayor
